Alex and The Alpaca is a 22-year-old Oslo-based artist and producer. He was raised by a single mother and grew up as the youngest brother in a musical family of Nicaraguan background. He is influenced by different cultures and decades and has since a young age looked up to singer-songwriters for their vulnerability and rockstars for their attitude. Alex writes from the perspective of an anxious young adult, who has fallen in and out of love, moved from home, and felt like an outcast. To cope he dials up the auto-tune and sings out loud within his universe, which mixes playful beats with lighthearted lyrics.
Determined to produce his own music, Alex spent countless hours in his bedroom practicing before enrolling at LIMPI (Lillehammer Institute of Music Production and Industries). Fresh off his graduation, Alex has showcased his songwriting and production skills through work with artists Darkowa (“In My Bedroom”) and Sid Hart (“Ikke Min”). His debut single was a collaboration with Norwegian artist Tilla (“Trails”) and has an accompanying music video made by the Oslo-based creative collective One Kin. Lefuturewave stated “There’s nothing not to like about the production of Trails, and it has a revolutionary sound that catches us off guard. Right now, you won’t find anything similar on the charts.” in their review of the song. Alex debuted the song at his first concert as a solo act during Musikkfest 2021 and is now geared up to present all of his new material.
In the spring of 2022, Alex & The Alpaca introduces us to his universe of cartoons and colors with “Adorable”. The first of 5 singles he has lined up for the year, which will culminate in an EP. The songs are inspired by ’70s and ’80s pop, rock, and singer-songwriters and will be released independently. The project is in its entirety produced, written, and performed by Alex alone. As a producer, Alex is currently working on writing and producing the debut album of artist Sid Hart “Boys In Love”, and assisting Tilla in the post-production of her album “1822”. He’s also been exploring different passions within music such as DJing and music curation, which further expand his palette, expertise, and artist image.
